Many young performers showcased by South Shore have achieved classical music prominence. The Tokyo String Quartet, Emanual Ax, Elmar Oliveira, Richard Stoltzman, Eugenia Zukerman, Carter Brey, Richard Goode and Christopher O’Reilly all performed in South Shore’s summer programs. More recent seasons have included performances by various medalists of the Van Cliburn International Piano and Tchaikovsky Cello Competitions, and prizewinners of Concert Artists Guild, London International String Quartet, Cleveland and Leeds Piano Competitions and the Walter W. Naumburg Chamber Music Competition, and many soloists of international renown.
Through the generosity of individual sponsors, South Shore Music continues to maintain its purpose of discovering musical virtuosi, presenting chamber music concerts of exceptional quality, and fostering the appreciation, knowledge and playing of classical music to audiences of varying ages.
